Authorities say the suspect, a 42-year-old man, entered the store around 4:45 p.m. armed with a folding knife and began randomly attacking people. The brutal mass stabbing took place without warning, according to police.

The attacker was eventually subdued by several shoppers inside the store who restrained him until law enforcement arrived. Emergency crews swarmed the Walmart Supercenter parking lot, with flashing lights, ambulances, and shaken employees filling the scene.
“There was blood… people were screaming,” said a store employee, visibly shaken. “It was like something out of a horror film.”
📍 Victims Rushed to Trauma Centre
Emergency responders transported all 11 victims to Munson Healthcare, the region’s leading hospital. Hospital spokesperson Megan Brown confirmed that six remained in critical condition, while five sustained serious but stable injuries.
Authorities have not disclosed the victims’ identities or ages at this time.
🔍 Investigation Underway: FBI Joins Local Law Enforcement
According to Sheriff Michael Shea of Grand Traverse County, the stabbings appear to be completely unprovoked, with no known connection between the suspect and victims. “Eleven is 11 too many,” Shea stated. “But thank God it wasn’t more.”
The FBI has since joined the investigation, and authorities are analysing surveillance footage, witness testimony, and the background of the suspect.

In an official statement, Walmart condemned the attack, calling it “completely unacceptable.” The company extended support to the victims and praised the quick action of both shoppers and first responders.
